Mars Williams presents An Ayler Xmas

OK folks, this is only going to a few select cities in the US, and Shreveport is fortunate to be one! In the Tour 2021, Mars Williams presents the music of Albert Ayler and Songs of Christmas in support of the CD release of ‘An Ayler Xmas Vol. 5’! Williams has gathered together musicians in each region performances are set and the lineup for Shreveport brings back some minicine? favorites and will introduce us to a few new! Musicians for November 30th includes: Mars Williams (Sax, Suona, Toy Instruments), Stefan Gonzalez (Drums), Aaron Gonzalez (Bass), Jonathan Horne (Guitar) and Gaika James (Trombone).

Saxophonist Mars Williams is most famous as a member of The Psychedelic Furs, but has proven his jazz bona fides with Peter Brötzmann and Ken Vandermark, and while guiding Liquid Soul and Hal Russell's NRG Ensemble. His rock CV is also varied, including Akron New Wave band The Waitresses and work with Billy Idol, Ministry, Massacre, and many more. He also leads the Albert Ayler tribute band Witches & Devils, and out of their holiday concerts grew a unique tradition.

This Tour 2021 is in support of An Ayler Xmas Vol. 5 CD co-released on Astral Spirits and Soul What Records. On a July afternoon in 2021, Williams rounded up the Witches & Devils crew to record two new Ayler Xmas medleys. An Ayler Xmas Vol.5 features those new medleys along with a live recording from “An Ayler Xmas” 2020 concert at Constellation, Chicago.
